Company of Heroes review round up
Relic's medal-laden strategy 100% victorious
Since Company of Heroes was first revealed, it was obvious that it would be something special. And as the reviews continue to advance on the first score (94% from PC Gamer - the highest rated RTS game ever), those scores continue to swell: with some of the biggest specialist gaming sites offering a perfect 100% (Eurogamer, 1UP.com, Gamespy, Games Radar and Yahoo! Games to name a few)
Underground Online aptly kicks off this review round-up with the quote: "You can exhaust a thesaurus looking for appropriate and complementary adjectives to attach to this stunning game." And few would disagree. Indeed, the only debate is between PC Gamer’s "This is nothing short of genius" and PC Zone’s "This is nothing short of brilliant."
Brilliant or genius, or both… as IGN stated "There is very little to say that’s remotely negative". But if you make a concerted effort, you’d notice that IGN’s 94% is possibly the most negative review out there, as they conclude "Stop making great games, Relic. Some of us have lives, you know."
Eurogamer, however, had no such complaints and "wish that we saw games this good more often", and with the 10/10 score, they truly believe that "Company of Heroes is inferior to nobody". Gamespy agree, noting "until all games are made like Company of Heroes, at least we have this one to show us how it’s done."
Even Edge magazine offered a rare 9/10, remarking "Company of Heroes is a truly excellent game. It is tightly balanced, technologically impressive, rarely dull and constantly challenging."
"Put simply, Company of Heroes is a masterpiece." So says Gamepro.
Company of Heroes is out tomorrow. You can see what all the fuss is about then.
