If you haven’t read about the coming ‘There Is Only War’ update for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II then prepare for some awesome changes to the game. The update includes 8 new multiplayer maps, a map editor, observer mode, new Wargear and a whole load of tweaks to units for all armies.

The best part is, you’re not even going to have to wait to try all of this out! The Beta for There Is Only War is live now and is open to all Dawn of War II owners!

Read on to find out how to take part…

Step 1
First off, make sure you have your copy of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II installed. When it’s in your Games List on Steam point your mouse at the top menu, click “File” and select “Settings”.

Step 2
With your settings window open in Steam click on the “Account” tab, followed by the “Change” button under “Beta Participation”. This will bring up a dropdown menu, scroll to find “Dawn of War II There Is Only War Update”. Clicking on this will begin the install process.

Step 3
Wait for the Beta to install, it’s around 325MB. Once it’s done you’re good to go. Most of the new additions that will be featured in the coming update will be in the game, but if you want to try the World Builder you’ll need to launch the WorldBuilder.exe file from the DOW2 root directory.

If you decide that you want to opt out of the Beta, and revert your game to the currently released version of Dawn of War II, you can do so by going back into your Account Settings and selecting “None – Opt out of all Beta programs” in Beta Participation.

The Beta ends on 19 July 2009, so make sure you grab it while you can!
