Gamespot publishes 'Real-time Strategy road map' for 2007
And features two very big guns from THQ
Gamespot recently published its 'Real-Time Strategy road map' for 2007. Given how well THQ's RTS offerings went down last year, in the form of Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War: Dark Crusade; it's no huge surprise to see THQ feature again for 2007. Indeed, our two RTS titles for the year opened and closed the article.
First up, Gamespot recommends Supreme Commander most heartily. "Essentially the unofficial sequel to 1997's Total Annihilation, which is often hailed as one of the greatest RTS games ever made, it offers a scale that is both breathtaking and challenging." And after that rather positive summary, Gamespot concludes: "Put together the game's substantial single-player campaign, compelling multiplayer, and the sheer size and scope that its battlefields offer, Supreme Commander is a game that RTS fans simply have to play."
The article then mentions some other titles, not published by THQ, so not worthy of mention by us...
And at the end, the piece finishes with Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, "an expansion pack for the game that Gamespot picked as its best PC game and best strategy game of 2006." Obviously hotly anticipated by fans, Opposing Fronts will also work as a standalone product, and so looks forward to a celebratory reception: hopefully with bunting, brass-bands and loud rounds of 'Hurrah!'.
Gamespot then noted its "new multiplayer mods and two new playable factions, the British 2nd Army and the German panzer Elite squads. It will also provide two all-new single player campaigns [...] improved artificial intelligence and better weather effects [...] and support for DirectX 10 graphics."
