Supreme Commander review round up

And the verdict is... supreme.

As Supreme Commander hits the top of the UK PC charts, we thought it a good time to round up the recent review scores; which, like the game itself, have been largely, erm, large.

So, in true RTS style, now’s the time to right click and group the key scores: PC Gamer 90%, Games Master 91%, Action Trip 91%, Jolt 9/10, TVG 9/10, IGN UK 8.9/10, Pro-G 9/10, Eurogamer 9/10, CVG 9/10, Gamepro 4.5/5, RealVG.com 9/10, PC Pro 5/6, Computer Shopper 5/5, PC Zone 88%, Bit-Tech.net 10/10.

And with those scores strategically positioned, now to unleash some choice quotes from the amassed units:

IGN called it “one of the most thrilling RTS experiences on the market” which is “a triumphant and hugely accomplished return to the genre”

TVG noted its “incredible sense of scale” with “a level of strategy once more that is rarely seen in an RTS”; concluding, “Quite simply, Supreme Commander is a very important game […] Command and Conquer 3 beware!”

Jolt also noted the scale, but with reference to its potential longevity, saying that the game “immediately impresses” yet “will be remembered for years to come”

Alongside others, Bit-tech.net (before they went off to build a 6 foot Supreme Commander replica, housing an over-the-top spec PC) made some impressively definitive statements: “Supreme Commander is at the top of the genre […] is it the best RTS ever? Probably.” Eurogamer were also straight to the point, saying “This. Is. How. It’s. Done.” And whilst CVG commented “it is, easily, the most epic game we've ever played”, PC Gamer made the simple point that Supreme Commander is “the first great game of 2007”.

And for news on what could be the second great game of 2007, don’t forget to keep an eye out for all our S.T.A.L.K.E.R. related news.
