Wrestlemania 23 lays the smack down in Detroit

THQ-Games.com reports from the Ford Field Stadium

A record-breaking 80,000 fans packed the Ford Field stadium in Detroit on Sunday to witness the biggest WWE event of the year - Wrestlemania 23! THQ-Games.com was on hand to see every punch, kick and chokeslam, as WWE's top SuperStars put on the show of a lifetime.

One of the most frenzied matches came early, as Mr. Kennedy, Finlay, King Booker, Edge, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, CM Punk and Randy Orton battled it out in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Mr. Kennedy reigned victorious, though things didn't look quite as rosy for Edge, who was stretchered away from the ring after he split a ladder in half... with his back.

United States Champion Chris Benoit held onto his title with a swift defeat of MVP, and The Great Khali despatched Kane in their clash inside the squared circle.

Women's Champion Melina defeated contender, and Playboy covergirl, Ashley, and the ECW Originals showed the true value of their experience by taking down the New Breed - Rob Van Dam secured the victory by pinning Matt Striker following a Five-Star Frog Splash.

In a true clash of the titans, World Heavyweight Champion Batista was dethroned by Undertaker. The Dead Man finally caged The Animal with a Tombstone Piledriver, brining his undefeated Wrestlemania streak to 15-0 and securing the title.

The match that everyone was talking about - the Battler of the Billionaires (or Hair vs Hair) took Detroit by storm. ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley secured victory for Donald trump, despatching Intercontinental Champion Umaga. Although it appeared that Mr. McMahon was going to leave the venue to escape his punishment, special guest referee Stone Cold Steve Austin ensured that The Chairman was secured to the barber's chair.

Donald Trump and Lashley had the dubious honour of shaving Mr. McMahon's head in front of the capacity crowd (and millions of viewers). Steve Austin had one more surprise in store, though, and proved his disdain for the billionaires by delivering a Stone Cold Stunner to The Trump!

The final event saw WWE Champion John Dena defending his title against Shawn Michaels. The Champ entered the venue in style, smashing through the glass set in a Mustang. When the action kicked off in the ring, The Heartbreak Kid battered Cena's knee and both SuperStars were soon bloodied and bruised as the fight got personal. Cena eventually forced HBK to tap out, as he applied his second STFU of the night.
