As part of the recent WWE SummerSlam Asian tour 2007, big name Superstars and Divas completed a whirlwind tour of Bangkok, Singapore and Perth in late July. THQ.AU caught the tour at Burswood Dome, Perth and spent some time with the stars of our massive franchise, WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008.
THQ.AU's lucky "WWE THQ & PALGN" competition winners also attend the event, getting an up-close-and-personal WWE experience.
Our MyTHQ subcribers went behind the scenes to meet with Batista and have a chat about life as a superstar - and took a few photos for the mantlepiece.
Staging a picture for his mates, one MyTHQ subscriber even tried on a mock headlock around Batista, drawing a wry smile from the Smackdown Superstar.
Needless to say our competition winners kept their distance.
The SummerSlam Asia Tour saw an almost complete Smackdown roster take part in matches, with Kane, The Great Khali and veteran Ric Flair drawing huge responses from the crowd. ECW stars were also part of the tour, giving Australian audiences a glimpse of the talent taking to the virtual stage in WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 later this year. Legend Tommy Dreamer confessed to THQ.AU that he often practices his own moves by playing the video game.
Arguably the biggest draw card for the sell-out crowd was the return from injury of Rey Mysterio. The 20,000 strong crowd threw their support behind the WWE veteran, a rowdy chant of "619" drowned out oppossing superstar Chavo Guerrero's title challenge. The highlight of the event was a tag-team match up, Batista and Kane joined forces against Finlay and The Great Khali. "Batista could even beat my dad", remarked one young fan to THQ.AU.
